Originally a mill and lumber yard, San Mateo Lumber Company played a major role in supplying the small but growing settlement of San Mateo and surrounding communities with the necessary lumber and building materials to help them grow into the cities they are today. In the early 1900s, wood harvested from the Santa Cruz Mountains would be brought to our planing mill to be converted into boards and timbers for construction use on the Peninsula.
